What it costs by tier
- Grill station (built-in grill + counter + storage): $8,000–$20,000
- Full outdoor kitchen (counters, storage, side burner, fridge/ice): $20,000–$50,000
- As part of a larger living build (patio, bar seating, fire, pergola): $60,000–$100,000+
What moves the number
- Appliances — the biggest swing. A basic built-in grill vs. premium grill, side burners, refrigeration, and a pizza oven is a large range.
- Masonry & counters — the material and size of the counters and structure.
- Utilities — running gas, water, and electric to the space, and tying it in properly.
- Covered structure — adding a pergola or pavilion extends the season and the budget.
- Integration with the patio — a kitchen designed as one piece with the patio is a larger, more usable project than a standalone grill counter.
Spending where it counts
The two things that most determine whether an outdoor kitchen gets used are layout and appliances — where the cook stands relative to guests, and having equipment you actually want to cook on. A beautiful kitchen with a bad layout becomes a shelf. We design the space so the money goes toward a kitchen that works, not just one that photographs well.
