How the seasons play out
- Spring — demand's highest. Everyone decides to build at once, so good contractors book out. Great weather, but you're competing for a spot.
- Summer — prime building season. Long dry stretches are ideal for base work and installation. Also busy, so booking ahead matters.
- Fall — arguably the best window. Cooler working conditions, stable ground, and you head into next spring with the patio already done.
- Winter — slower, but not off. As long as the ground isn't frozen solid, hardscape can be built through much of a KC winter — and it's the easiest time to get on a schedule.
The best time is usually ‘now’
Because spring and summer book out, the smartest timing is often to plan in the off season. Designing your project in late fall or winter means you're first in line when the building season opens — instead of calling in April and waiting months for a slot. The design and planning phase doesn't need good weather; the build does. Getting the design done early is how you actually get built when you want to be.
Bottom line
Patios get built nearly year-round here, with fall a quietly ideal window and winter the easiest time to book. If you're thinking about next year, start the design now — it's how you beat the spring rush.
